Panto January 2009We were persuaded by friends to join a local amateur dramatic group called the Careline Theatre, soon after attending a very funny and very professional performance by them of “Dad’s Army”, in which a sketch featuring tap-dancing char-ladies had inspired Celia.

Ready for the ball at the panto January 2009

Before we knew it, we were taking part in the pantomime  “Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs” in January 2009 as part of the chorus, in which we had to sing and dance. You can see a slideshow of some photos of the panto, set to the music of one of the songs we sang. There are more photos in the Photo Gallery under ‘General’, including a copy of the enthusiastic review in the local paper Round Town News.

Opening numberWe also took part in the 2010 pantomime entitled “Beauty and the Beast”.  Once again we were members of the chorus – singing, dancing and being part of ‘crowd scenes’. Celia also took part in several tap dancing numbers, fulfilling the dream she had when she started taking lessons just over a year ago, and the Charleston (click to see video) in which she looked very fetching in her ‘flapper’ costume. We also performed an extremely well-choreographed version of “Dance the Night Away”.

Once again, the show was very professional, with wonderful costumes, great music and dances and special effects. The audience reaction was incredible and the feedback from many off the regulars who came was that it was the best panto that Careline has staged to date.
